Frequently Asked Questions About Recreational Soccer

Uniforms and Equipment:
Uniforms are included as part of player registration. Your child will receive a uniform consisting of a shirt, shorts and socks. The uniform will be distributed to the players through the team's coach and/or manager. Parents will need to provide the children with shin guards, and a soccer ball. Soccer shoes are recommended, but are not mandatory.

When do the seasons begin and end?
The fall season generally begins after Labor Day and runs through the end of October and the spring season generally begins in April and is completed by the first weekend in June.

Equipment:
Players are required to wear shin guards. They may play in athletic (tennis) shoes or rubber cleats.

Volunteer:
To receive your refund on the volunteer buyout, you will need to complete five (5) hours of volunteer service. Once your service is complete, fill out the volunteer refund form and submit. Volunteer jobs are posted on the web site.

Financial Aid:
Financial assistance is available to families who meet the requirements. Families applying for financial assistance will still be required to pay twenty (20) dollars per child. For more information, please contact the Tosa Kickers Director. Forms are available on the website.

Futsal:
During the winter Tosa Kickers will offer Futsal competition. These games are played in a gym with a ball that has 30% less bounce. It is played to increase the touches on the ball and foot skills.

Camps:
There are several camps for players from U6 to U17 in Tosa. The Milwaukee Kickers sponsor one in the summer and Tosa Recreation and Tosa Kickers sponsor several in the summer and winter.

Are there school based teams?
The Tosa Kickers discourages school based teams. The guidelines that we try to follow when forming new teams: 1. Board Members Requests. 2. Special Requests. 3. School (Limited to five (5) players from any one school.) 4. Neighborhood Please understand that we have no control over when families choose to register their children in our program. Therefore, it is possible that the makeup of a team may not strictly follow the defined guidelines.

Can I request a specific team, coach or group of children for my child to play on or with?
The Tosa Kickers do accept special requests. We do our very best to honor all requests, but we can not make any guarantees. Special requests will be handled on a first come first server basis. Therefore it is important for new players with specific requests to register earlier rather than later. 1. Board Members children 2. Existing Players 3. New Players (Processed by date of registration.)

When will the games be scheduled?
Nearly all games will be scheduled on Saturday and/or Sunday. League games will never start before 12:00 PM on Sunday to accommodate families attending services. If games need to be rescheduled due to weather, mid-week games may occur.

What happens if my child has a conflict with a practice or a game?
You should address all issues regarding practice and games with the coach. Think of it as a common courtesy issue. The sooner you notify the coach that your child will not be at practice or attend a game, the better.

What if my child has special needs?
Please make the coach aware if your child has any special needs. Make sure that everyone that has contact with your child understands what needs to happen if your child is ever in a crisis

How do I become a coach?
Contact the Director of Coaching. You will need to complete a licensing course through the Milwaukee Kickers. It is a great way to become involved with the club.
